Permission Denied because search permissions are missing on a component of the path
[core:error] [pid 14060] (13)Permission denied: [client 127.0.0.1:58125] AH00035: access to /favicon.ico denied (filesystem path ‘/home/andrew/public_html’) because search permissions are missing on a component of the path
This issue struck me back a while ago when I was playing with Apache on a userdir. The quick trick here is one of your parent directories needs to have execute permission, this is used for the “search” feature by Apache. Doing a quick chmod +x /home/andrew will have this issue fixed very quickly.
If you’re eager to understand more check out files and their permissions in Linux, it’s definitely an interesting read.
